Lady Warriors finish runners-up at 3A State meet Worland distance runner Trajn Swalstad successfully defended his 3200-meter championship and added the 1600-meter title, too, during last week's 3A State meet in Casper on May 16-18. For the first time since 2014, the Worland Lady Warriors track and field team brought home the regional championship. In one of their final home games for the season, the Worland Lady Warriors softball team notched their first conference win last week at Newell Sargent Park in Worland. Playing the Green River Lady Wolves on May 3, the Lady Warriors beat the Lady Wolves 12-7. The bats of Molly Glanz and Oakley Voyles helped power Worland to the conference victory. After falling to Torrington on April 12, the Worland Warriors soccer team made a few changes before last week's games. There’s nothing like home cooking, and the Worland High School track and field team made the most of hosting their annual meet, the D&D Invitational, on April 4. The Lady Warriors won their home meet with 209.50 points; Powell was second with 196 points, and Lovell third with 55 points. Making history at the state girls wrestling tournament last week in Casper, Worland's Rivers Carrell became the first-ever girl state champion for the Worland High School wrestling program. The Worland Warriors swimming and diving team only had two swimmers compete at the 3A State meet in Laramie last weekend, but both swimmers cut time and gave it their all. Worland lost to St. Thomas More (South Dakota) 42-22 on Dec. 7 and Scottsbluff, Nebraska, 54-49 on Dec. 8, but beat Torrington 51-46 on Dec. 9. The Ten Sleep Lady Pioneers tip-off their basketball season today for the first time in two seasons. Unable to field a team due to low turnout, the Lady Pioneers have the numbers to roster a team and compete in the 2024 basketball season.
