SHERIDAN — A recent survey from the University of Wyoming indicates about one-quarter of state residents believe the worst of the pandemic crisis has passed in the U.S., while nearly half say the worst is yet to come. SHERIDAN — Wyoming ranks second in the nation for having the least women in the U.S. meeting recommendations by the American Cancer Society for mammograms, according to Health Testing Centers. In the spirit of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, HTC examined the state of women’s health care by state, using 2018 data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. SHERIDAN — About halfway through suicide prevention month, the Violence Policy Center released the results of a study Wednesday that shows Wyoming has the second highest rate of suicides and gun suicides in the nation. Montana had the highest rates and Alaska ranked third. Guns were involved in 68% of suicides in Montana, 63% of suicides in Wyoming and 60% of suicides in Alaska. SHERIDAN — Paul Demple, chief executive officer at Northern Wyoming Mental Health Center, said a proposed bill that would require mental illness adjudications be reported to firearm dealers is a response to gun violence in the U.S. based on fear, not fact.
