WORLAND – The fickle weather this autumn affected the sugar beet harvest causing numbers to be different than predicted. Wyoming Sugar Executive Vice President Mike Greear stated that the large amount of rain that the area received in the beginning of September caused the beets to stay in the ground longer, thus affecting the tonnage and sugar content. “They (beets) stayed in the ground longer, so the tonnage goes up but the sugar content goes down,” Greear said. WORLAND – The Prevention Management Organization of Wyoming has hired Lila Jolley as the Washakie County Prevention Management Specialist, replacing Mary Buchanan who retired in July.
