Victoria Eavis, Casper Star-Tribune Via Wyoming News Exchange|Sep 1, 2022

CASPER — Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Buchanan is set to assume his judgeship next month, leaving his office with three months remaining on his term. The departure means Wyoming’s top elections official will be gone before the general election in November. It will also mean an interim secretary of state will need to be appointed until the candidate that wins the election takes office in January. Buchanan told the Star-Tribune that it “looks like” he will depart Sept. 15. He will take the bench on Sept. 19, WyoFile first reported. Rep. Chuck G...

Wyoming joined 26 other states in asking the Supreme Court to halt implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) mandate that requires workers at businesses with 100 or more employees to either get vaccinated against COVID-19 or submit to weekly testing and mandatory masking. Wyoming’s participation comes as no surprise. Fighting back again...

Critics of the special session latched onto the cost — estimated to be about $25,000 per day — as a reason not to hold it. That argument did not prevail, and the Legislature was in session for seven days at a rate of about $33,000 per day. Under the original estimate, the total session would have cost about $175,000. But after it was all said...

Victoria Eavis, Casper Star-Tribune Via Wyoming News Exchange|Jun 3, 2021

CASPER – Wyoming Gun Owners filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Buchanan and Attorney General Bridget Hill claiming that Wyoming’s electioneering communications law is unconstitutionally vague under the First Amendment. “It violates the First Amendment because people are inclined to self-censor when the law’s vague,” said Del Kolde, a senior attorney from the Institute on Free Speech who is co-representing Wyoming Gun Owners. The lawsuit, which was also filed against Deputy Secretary of State Karen Wheeler a...
