    WORLAND —The Worland High School speech and debate team is two for two this season, competing in two meets and winning the 3A sweepstakes in both competitions. Coach Rick Dorn said the team competed in Green River in December and defeated Douglas in 3A by one point. He said that was the first meet of the competition and Worland took mainly novice members with varsity members unable to compete due to other commitments.     LARAMIE — A University of Wyoming student and member of the Wyoming Research Scholars Program (WRSP) was recognized by Gov. Matt Mead during his State of the State address Jan. 11. The governor acknowledged Logan Jensen, a junior from Greybull majoring in astronomy and astrophysics, for taking advantage of research opportunities as an undergraduate at UW.     WORLAND – Washakie County Commissioners met on Tuesday, to hear county agency reports and to be briefed on a county audit conducted by the accounting firm of Carver, Florek, and James of Rock Springs.     WORLAND – After a lot of hard work both in and out of the classroom, a group of six Meeteetse middle school students have first been named the Wyoming State winners out of over 1,800 entries and now one of the 24 regional winners in the Verizon Innovative Learning app challenge.     Wanda Frances George of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side January 12, 2017. She was almost 92. She is predeceased by her parents Clifford and Fannie Hite; husband Charles Lawrence (Larry) George; siblings, Donald Hite and Waunita Schuchman.     Lori Lynn Lenz, 59 returned to her Heavenly Father on Jan 16th after losing a short battle with A.L.S. Her deep love of family and belief in God supported her and gave her peace. Lori was born to the late Mike and Yvonne (Deitchler) Smith on the Fourth of August 1957. She was raised and schooled in Thermopolis, WY with her three siblings.
