    Karla Pomeroy, Staff Writer|Feb 4, 2016

WORLAND — This year’s Wyoming Legislative Budget Session will be a little different than in past years in the way the budget will be handled. Joint Appropriations Committee member Rep. Mike Greear (R-Worland) said the committee, and the Management Council, of which he is also a member, opted to separate some expenditures from the general appropriations for operations. Greear, who is going through his first full session on the JAC, said, “One of the reasons I wanted to get on Appropriations is so I could more fully understand how gover...

    Feb 4, 2016

CHEYENNE (AP) — Wyoming health officials say that the state is not at risk for mosquitoes carrying the Zika virus, but they are counseling residents who have traveled to countries where the virus is present. The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that the mosquito that carries the virus does not live in Wyoming, which means the virus does not appear to be a threat to the general public. Wyoming Department of Health employees are talking to residents who have traveled or plan to travel to other countries where the Zika virus has been confirmed. S...

  • Big bucks, shadowy companies: Election mystery money returns

    Feb 4, 2016

WASHINGTON (AP) — Campaign money from shadowy sources is back this presidential election. At least $4 million of it is flowing to outside groups helping White House hopefuls, making it difficult to trace who’s behind the big bucks. Both parties benefit from money routed through obscure corporations, or from nonprofits that don’t have to disclose their donors. The contributions are a reminder of federal court decisions in recent years, like Citizens United, that loosened prior restrictions in campaign finance laws. That can hide who’s really...

    Sisco Molina, Sports Editor|Feb 4, 2016

By Sisco Molina Sports Editor WORLAND – With the regional tournament exactly a month away, the top-ranked Warriors are going to get a pretty good feel for the postseason format as they play three games in three days this weekend, starting with Powell this evening at 7 p.m. “It’s on our chalkboard in the locker room. It’s up there that this is pre-regionals, basically,” Worland boys basketball coach Aaron Abel said on Wednesday. “If you’re a high seed – which hopefully we’ll be – you’ll start out with a weaker opponent and that’s what we have i...

  • Bohl stresses importance of private, public help in recruiting success

    Robert Gagliardi, WyoSports|Feb 4, 2016

LARAMIE – Craig Bohl spent about 30 minutes showing video highlights and introducing the University of Wyoming’s 2106 recruiting class Wednesday. But the first thing the third-year coach did was give credit for what he and his staff deemed the reason for their successful recruiting cycle. “This recruiting class and the composition of our football team wouldn’t be possible without the generous contributions of our Cowboy Joe Club members (the fundraising arm of UW athletics) and the generous match made by the Wyoming Legislature,” Bohl said...
