On National Ag Day and every other day, I take my hat off to the Wyoming agriculture industry. It is, reliably, Wyoming’s third largest industry. It is a cornerstone of Wyoming’s financial stability with more than 11,000 farms and ranches and $1.6 billion in annual farm and ranch income. It continues to provide a wealth of benefits to our state, citizens, and nation – food for the table, open spaces, wildlife habitat, a pleasant western style of living, and much more. Thank you, Wyoming ag producers, for all you do. Agriculture is a chall...
While state meat plant inspections may not be the first thing you think about when you hear about the Wyoming Department of Agriculture, it is an important part of the work the department does for citizens and the agriculture industry in Wyoming. As the buying local movement continues to grow, the need for a safe and quality product from Wyoming producers becomes even more important. Considering that cattle is the biggest sector of Wyoming agriculture accounting for more than half of all cash receipts, the ability to send livestock to state...

About half of the Worland team traveled to Casper to compete against 21 other schools, from all four classes; while not operating at full strength WHS track coach Tracey Wiley was proud of her team's performance. "It was good. The big thing we saw was Brad (Lyman in the high jump) and the boys 4x100-meter relay team automatically qualify...

The fire has burned about 30 acres in timber and grass on a dry, south slope about two miles west of the forest boundary along Forest Service Trail 002, the Tongue River Canyon Trail. The human-caused fire will be investigated today as firefighters mop up in anticipation of rain showers this evening and tomorrow. The Forest Service asks that p...
CHEYENNE – On Wednesday, Governor Matt Mead vetoed House Enrolled Act 107 (HEA107), originally House Bill 137, which would have allowed the concealed carry of firearms to governmental meetings (the bill would not have altered already legal open carry of firearms in meetings). Commonly called the Wyoming Repeal Gun Free Zones Act, HB137 was found by Gov. Mead to be “murky” in its wording, as defined by a letter of explanation to Secretary of State Edward Murray. “A law of this import must be thoughtful and clear – not subject to question...
