CASPER (AP) — The loss of thousands of energy industry jobs has sent Wyoming’s unemployment rate above the national average for the first time in more than a decade. The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services reports the state’s unemployment rate jumped to 5 percent in February, compared to a national average of 4.9 percent. LARAMIE — The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has approved a small increase in mandatory student fees for the 2016-17 academic year. Full-time students each will pay $1,334.62 next year, up just $13.12 from the $1,321.50 charged in the current year. The mandatory fees assessed on all students on the Laramie campus support a variety of self-sustaining programs.
