WORLAND- The Worland Wildfires girls fast pitch softball teams have started practicing for the 2016 campaign. LARAMIE – Tuesday was National Equal Pay Day, a national day of action against unfair pay. According to the Wyoming Women’s Foundation, April 12th represents the point into the new year that women must work in order to earn the wages paid to men in the previous year. On a national level, women are paid only 79 cents for every dollar a man is paid, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The Chief Washakie FFA Chapter had seven members earn State FFA degrees at last week’s State FFA Convention in Cheyenne. Wayne “Tuffy” Barent, 84, longtime Ogallala resident, died Thursday, April 7, 2016, in Perkins County Health Services in Grant, Ne. Wayne was born April 4, 1932 in Seneca, Nebr., the son of John and Inez ( Smith) Barent. After graduating from high school in Mullen he attended Chadron State College. He attended Chadron Nebr. College and later Sol Ross College in Alpine, Texas. In 1953 Tuffy entered the National Collegiate Rodeo finals where he won one go-around in bareback riding.
