STAR VALLEY - The Worland Lady Warriors defeated the Star Valley Braves 3-2 in a match filled with dramatics Saturday afternoon. Worland would play well in the first half and kept the pressure on Star Valley taking a 1-0 lead into halftime. "We came out strong and got the first goal, then we had a few breakaways that we couldn't convert on," said coach Danielle Warren. THERMOPOLIS – The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is warning that rock slides in the Wind River Canyon have the potential to be a daily occurrence as increased moisture from ground thawing and anticipated rainfall will increase the odds of falling rock. “Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of control at this time,” noted WYDOT District Engineer Shelby Carlson. “We’re bringing in an emergency contractor [GeoStabilization International of Denver] to help with the more troublesome slopes, and remove potential hazards,” said Carlson....
CHEYENNE – Last week the Wyoming State Board of Education heard updates on new Chapter 31 rules for graduation requirements, which must be finalized within four months, according to board chairman Pete Gosar. At their March meeting in Hulett, the State Board discussed graduation requirements per the 2015 assessment and accountability bill, which require the Department of Education to modify Chapter 31 rules. WORLAND – The Banner Health Washakie Medical Center physical therapy/rehab department in Worland has received a facelift enabling them to offer more services. Christina Juanita Dabalos, 67, former Worland resident passed away on April 29, 2016 in Casper, Wyoming. Christina Juanita Dabalos was born on April 4, 1949 in Worland a daughter of Jose & Gracie May (Smallwood) Dabalos. She was baptized on September 25, 1949 at St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and her God parents are Phillip & Alice Chavis. She received her education in Worland and graduated with the class of 1967. Long time Worland resident Milford John "Mel" Dietz passed away at his home in Worland on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the age of 90 years. Mel was born at the "Old Stone House" outside of Joliet, Montana on May 17, 1925. He was a son of Pauline (Woitt-Schleining) and Jacob H. Dietz. He was the sixth born of thirteen children to the German-Russian family. Mel attended country schools around Joliet and Edgar, and graduated from Bridger High School. Dr. Eugene A. Doerr of Boise, Idaho and formerly of Basin, died on Saturday, April 23, 2016 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born August 10, 1939.
