  • Karla's Kolumn: When will we stop sharing fake news

    Karla Pomeroy, Editor|Jun 2, 2018

OK, let’s get one thing straight. President Abraham Lincoln did NOT say “You can’t believe everything you read on the internet.” I’m sure he would have had the internet been invented during his lifetime, as such it was not. Let’s get another thing straight. Just because someone tells you something is true (especially on social media) does not actually make it true. Yes, I know I have harped on this before and I’ll be harping on this over the next several months. Why? Because I’m concerned with so many people out there with their noses in...

  • Stocks, interest rates climb as job market keeps improving

    Stan Choe, AP Business Writer|Jun 2, 2018

Stocks climbed Friday after a report showed the U.S. job market is still revving higher, even with the specter of a possible trade war hanging over markets around the world. The better-than-expected news on jobs helped the S&P 500 more than recover all its losses from earlier in the week. Interest rates and the value of the dollar also rose on expectations that the Federal Reserve got more justification to continue raising interest rates steadily, with its next decision due in about a week and a half. Beyond the jobs report,...

    Tracie Mitchell, Staff Writer|Jun 2, 2018

WORLAND – Shell Cowboy Church pastor James Scott, known as the Cowboy Preacher, is leaving on a three-week mission to Malawi, Africa, June 13 to share the good news of Jesus Christ. "This is just one trip. Anywhere I get the opportunity to go and share the Gospel, as long as God continues to supply those needs, I'm going to go to the ends of the earth," Scott said. About six years ago Scott met a man named Jimmy May in Sturgis, South Dakota. "He's asked me to go to Africa for the last four y...

  • NOT REAL NEWS: President has not fired Muslim federal judge

    Jun 2, 2018

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — A story circulating on social media falsely claims President Donald Trump has removed a Muslim federal judge for trying to implement Sharia law in the United States. The identically worded stories from the floxyupdates and us-leader sites say Trump used an executive order to fire Justice Hansam al Alallawalahi-Smith of the 22nd Circuit Court of Appeals in Dearborn, Michigan. There is no federal judge by that name, there is no such court and presidents cannot remove judges from office with executive orders. The C...

The NBA kicked off this week with three-straight days of headline news then had a wild Game 1 of the NBA.
