    WORLAND - The Big Horn Basin Blue Jays hosted a five-team tournament at Newell Sargent Park over the Father's Day weekend and finished with a 1-2 record. The Blue Jays, the senior Babe Ruth team, opened the tournament against Gillette's junior varsity team and won by a score of 10-1 with Zade Larkins picking up the W from the mound.     WORLAND - The Worland Wildfires 14U and 10U fast-pitch softball teams hosted Lander and Riverton for a three team round-robin tournament on Father's Day. The 14U Wildfires dropped both games to Lander and Riverton. Against Riverton, the Wildfires had a bad defensive inning that gave their opponents an 8-0 lead.     Jakob Josef Weber passed away peacefully Saturday, June 18, 2016 in the Washakie Medical Center due to complications from his recent hip surgery. He was 88 years old. Jake was born on December 25, 1927 in Worland WY. He was the first born son of Josef and Maria Weber. After completing the 8th grade, he stayed and helped his father on the family farm; following right behind him was his best buddy, his sister Mary.     WORLAND – Washakie County Attorney John Worrall went over budget reductions and made his case to keep the deputy attorney position in the upcoming fiscal year budget with the Washakie County Commissioners on Tuesday morning. Worrall made a total of $4,000 in reductions out of the $193,092 County Attorney Office budget and said, “It looks higher because of the full-time deputy salary in there and it is, but I’ve tried to cut that elsewhere.” The $4,000 reductions were $2,500 out of trial costs and $1,500 on cancelling a law database.     WORLAND – The Washakie Hospital Badlands Poker Run Saturday generated a good turnout and a large sum of money for the Washakie Hospital Foundation cancer fund.     CODY — The sixth annual PEAKS to Conga bicycle ride is this Saturday. The fully-supported 68-mile bicycle ride from Cody to Shell, raises funds to support cancer patients in the Big Horn Basin. Volunteers help PEAKS (People Everywhere Are Kind & Sharing), raise money to donate immediate, short term, gas and grocery assistance to local cancer patients experiencing financial hardship.
