  • Emergency services, city crews clean up smoldering garbage from street

    WORLAND – City of Worland crews are generally advised not to leave trash in the middle of the street -unless it is on fire. At around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, Washakie County Dispatch received a report that the garbage in a city garbage truck had caught fire. By the time Washakie Ambulance, the Worland Police Department and Worland Fire Department arrived on the scene, the debris was in the street smoldering.     WORLAND – Washakie County School Dist. No. 1 upped its attendance standards at its monthly meeting Monday night. Through the end of the 2014 – 2015 school year, students at Worland High School who miss more than 10 classes must complete a term paper assigned by Principal Kevin Smith in order to receive credit.     The United States Postal Service is changing networks in the Big Horn Basin effective July 5, according to public relations officer David Rupert. Rupert said there will be less transportation into the Big Horn Basin and more transportation into Casper, which will now be the main hub.
