WORLAND — After tabling an ordinance to update the Worland residential building code in June, the council is set to take action on first reading at tonight’s regular meeting. At the June 7 meeting, the council tabled first reading after a brief discussion. At the time, Building Official Nick Kruger said the code is updated every three years. The city adopts the International Residential Code (IRC) and eliminates those parts that are not relevant to the city of Worland. WORLAND – The Washakie County Commission will meet today starting at 9 a.m. to review and tentatively vote to approve the revised Washakie County Emergency Operations Plan (WC-EOP), and will hear new burn restrictions put into place by the Bureau of Land Management last week. CHEYENNE - Plague infection was recently confirmed in a northeastern Wyoming prairie dog, according to the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH). No human cases have been identified. The infected prairie dog was discovered in the Converse County area of the Thunder Basin National Grassland. The infection was confirmed by the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory. Wyoming pioneer, Fred Robert Yeaman, 97, passed away July 15, 2017 at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis. Born in Afton, WY, April 7, 1920 he was one of seven children of George and Mary (Roberts) Yeaman. Graduating from Afton High school in 1938 he received a four-year football scholarship to the University of Wyoming. During summers he worked for the U.S. Park Service and the CCC’s at Saratoga, WY. Christine Patricia Ruiz Luehne, 82, passed away at her home in Thermopolis, on Friday, July 14, 2017, after trying to recover from a stroke. Christine was born June 20, 1935, in Denver, Colorado. At a young age Christine worked hard to help support her family in Denver. In 1960, she met her soul mate, Wolfgang Luehne, who had arrived from Germany in the same year. Dorothy Ruby Hook, 87, died at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on July 18, 2017. Ruby was born September 30, 1929 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Arthur and Effie (Long) Walker. She was married to the love of her life Robert L. Hook in Galveston Texas on August 16, 1946. Robert died in 2009.
