The Washakie County Fair Board expressed excitement and enthusiasm for this year’s line up of events as the fair opens Saturday with the horse show and the first fair cornhole tournament. The horse show kicks off at 8 a.m. at the arena and the cornhole tournament begins at 1 p.m. The board discussed the upcoming fair prior to their final pre-fair meeting Monday night. Lowell Roger “Doc” Bethke, 87, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023 in Shoreview, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine A. Bethke. Janis Diane Hake Palmer, 78, passed away on July 7, 2024, at Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana. She was born in Santa Monica, California on May 27, 1946. She was the daughter of Ray Smith Hake, Jr. and Barbara Jane (Smith) Hake. Her family moved back to Worland in 1949. The 2024 season was a big step forward for the American Legion Post 44 Worland Chiefs program. From doubling their wins to player development, there was plenty of growth this season.
