WORLAND - Three teams competed in the annual Washakie County Fair Horseshoe Pitching Contest. The field included five-time state champion Joyce Desmond, who partnered with her husband Dick and won the tournament. Dymple Mae Stewart, 77, of Worland, died on July 23, 2015 at the Billings Clinic, Billings, Montana. Dymple was born on March 30, 1938. Samuel Jerry Clingan, 68 year old Worland resident passed away on July 22, 2015 at the Washakie Medical Center in Worland. Jerry was born on October 25, 1946 to John and Ruby (Smith) Clingan in Rock Springs, Wyo. He graduated from Rock Springs in 1965. He worked at Coors Can Plant in Golden, Colorado, retiring after over 30 years of dedicated service. He then relocated to Worland, where he work for a number of years at Kennedy Ace Hardware. Marjorie Ann Skrobut passed on to be with the Lord on July 22, 2015 in Flagstaff, AZ after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Marjorie was born to Reinhardt and Mary Bohl on October 1, 1943 in Worland, WY. She grew up and attended school in Worland and attended Casper College before joining the U S Army in 1963 and moving to New York. She resigned from the army to marry and to that union was born her daughter Lynnette. She married Larry Skrobut in 1979 in Mesa, AZ. Gladys Augusta Nichols Jones passed away July 25, 2015 at the New Horizon Care Center in Lovell Wyoming. Gladys was born near Lysite Wyoming September 13, 1929 the daughter of James Lee Nichols Sr. and Susie Parm Nichols. Gladys grew up on the family homestead on Bridger creek attending schools in Shoshone before moving to Lucerne area near Thermopolis where she graduated from high school in 1948. The Big Horn Basin is in the midst of three fairs, so it is a busy time for 4-H families, open class exhibitors, those of us in Extension, those who attend the events to support family and friends, those who are in the newspaper business and trying to take pictures and write stories about each fair as well as those who attend to catch up on what is new in their friends’ and neighbors’ lives. WORLAND – Worland’s Cal Ripken 10-U baseball team found itself in a pickle over the weekend. The strong run at the end of the season that delivered Worland its second straight state championship a couple of weeks ago abruptly came to an end as the team competed in the 2015 Cal Ripken 10-U Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament held in West Linn, Oregon.
