    WORLAND — Washakie County has seen a slight uptick in COVID-19 cases over the past month. Washakie County had 0 active cases on June 15 and as of Monday had 7 active lab-confirmed cases. On Tuesday the number of active was down to 3. The number of total lab-confirmed cases went from 724 on July 15 to 739 on Monday, July 26. During the COVID-19 pandemic that began in March 2020, Washakie County has had 739 lab-confirmed and 206 probable cases of COVID-19 and 26 deaths.     TEN SLEEP – Washakie County School District (WCSD) No. 2 adopted their 2021-22 fiscal year budget before their monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 20, which included $2.5 million for design of the new Ten Sleep School. The design funds were approved by the Wyoming Legislature as part of the Wyoming Supplemental Budget during this year’s legislative session in April.     The Washakie County Fair is in full swing which got me to thinking about the time and effort volunteers put into making the fair happen. Yes, there are individuals who are paid to help with the fair in so far as it is part of the overall job description including Fair office staff during the week, 4-H educator, FFA advisors, Washakie County building maintenance staff, event judges, those who contract for pig wrestling, rodeos and monster truck events. They had two children, Delbert Wayne and Darlene Marie, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren, soon to be six.     Paul "Jim" Hall, 79, of Worland, Wyoming passed away on July 20, 2021 at Spirit Mountain Hospice in Cody, Wyoming. Jim was born on Jan. 8, 1942 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to James and Elizabeth (Hunter) Hall. He grew up in the Phelps, Wisconsin area and reached the 10th grade in education there. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was active in helping his neighbors with chores and helped ensure needy families had proper food.     CODY – Fires are now banned on all Wyoming Game and Fish Commission-owned and administered lands within the Big Horn Basin. These lands include Yellowtail Wildlife Habitat Management Area (WHMA) near Lovell and Renner and Medicine Lodge WHMAs near Hyattville. The fire restrictions are also in effect at all Game and Fish Public Access Areas (PAA) within Bighorn and Washakie Counties including all accesses along the Bighorn River, Ten Sleep Creek and the Carter/Billy Miles PAA near Ten Sleep.     Wyoming’s fight against COVID-19 appears to be entering a new, concerning phase due to the Delta variant, according to the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH).
