I’m writing this with two more days of fair week left. Whew. We made it. I’ve always loved fair week and have a lot of fond memories of fair at every newspaper I’ve worked at. My first job out of college was at the Lovell Chronicle, I started in the summer and fair in August helped me get to know a lot of people and children heading into my coverage of my first school year. One thing about the fair in Big Horn County is having lived in Basin for six years, including several years without a restaurant in town, it was great to have so many choic...

WORLAND - Kathy Bush of Ten Sleep has been leading programs within the Washakie County 4-H program for 26 years. Bush has been involved with 4-H activities since she was young. "4-H wasn't like it is today when I was a child. What we were involved in was clubs. Our Upper Nowood Club was like the Jolly Neighbors and it was a family thing. All of the people in the club brought their canning, sewing, and different grains and each club decorated their space and put their stuff out," Bush said. She...

  • The excitement surrounding Green Hills continues to build

    Alex Kuhn, Sports Editor|Aug 6, 2016

WORLAND - The summer is coming to a close and for Green Hills Golf Course golf professional Mike Propp it has been a terrific summer. In the spring Propp and Go Play Golf owner Gary Shampeny were determined to bring out the true potential of the Green Hills course. Together Shampeny and Propp, along with their dedicated staff, achieved just that by providing a well maintained course, listening to the golfers and building a strong junior golf program. Even during the recent heat wave there's a...

  • Hear Me Out...Leaving names in the past

    Alex Kuhn, Sports Editor|Aug 6, 2016

In the 21st century we've overused many words like outrage, scandal and controversy. Controversy has been so tapped out by TV media that when you hear Megyn Kelly say "Controversy over 'x'" your reaction isn't intrigue it's more of an eye roll. Here's my own half-baked theory about controversies, the bulk of them are misunderstands mixed with a heavy dose of misinformation. For example Worland Youth Baseball had their version of a non-controversy/misunderstanding. Last month the Worland Junior...
