    WORLAND - Current and future rodeo stars gathered at the Washakie County Fairgrounds Friday to compete in the Washakie County Fair rodeo and junior rodeo.     Walter Leonard Gould, age 93, passed away on July 17, 2016, in Peoria, AZ. He was born in Burlington, Wyoming in 1923 to Claude Peter and Emily (Erickson) Gould, the eighth of ten children. His mother died when he was 6 years old, and he had a hard childhood, but with encouragement from his older brothers, Don and Earl, he graduated from Ten Sleep High School and went to the University of Wyoming.     WORLAND – The high winds around the Big Horn Basin this past weekend are common for the summer storm months. Meteorologist-In-Charge Chris Jones said, “A lot of it depends on our atmospheric conditions and how much moisture is available.” Jones said winds peaked at the Worland Municipal Airport at 4:20 p.m. at 52 miles per hour on Sunday and South Big Horn County Airport (Greybull) at 55 miles per hour.     WORLAND - A Worland man won the Hard Luck Award at the Big Horn County Demolition Derby Sunday in Basin after getting injured in the truck class and unable to finish the competition in the limited-weld car class.     WORLAND – Seven bands from across the state competed for the coveted first-place prize of $1,000 at Worland's first Battle of the Bands. The winners were Day by Day, a band of five made up from Greybull and Powell. Band members Adrian Melin, Jordan Jackson, Jess Bakken and brothers Oscar Garay and Julius Cesar Garay said it felt great to win.
