WORLAND — Fourteen years and three awards later the Pepsi Wyoming State BBQ Championship and Bluegrass Festival kicks off tonight with the brewfest at the Washakie County Fairgrounds. Event Coordinator and festival committee director Dave Paxton said the 12-member committee has been working for the past year to get ready for the 14th annual festival. TEN SLEEP – During the Ten Sleep school board meeting Monday evening Ten Sleep School Superintendent Jimmy Phelps proposed the building of a vocational building on the northern half of the lots the school purchased in 2017. Phelps explained to the board that just because the building of the new school has been put on hold, building the vocational building could still occur and he would like to approach architects to come to the board with their proposals. WORLAND – The14th annual Pepsi Wyoming State BBQ Championship and Bluegrass Festival is Aug. 17-18 and features three bluegrass bands. This year’s musical platter includes three bands: Wood Belly, Lochwood Bluegrass Band and The Barefoot Movement. Floyd Courtney Lattimer passed away on August 10, 2018 at the age of 80. He was born on March 18, 1938 in Ethete, Wyoming to Lewis H. and Clara (Courtney) Lattimer. Floyd graduated High School in Riverton, Wyoming and then went into the military. He joined the United States Navy in 1955. He actively served for three years and then transferred to the reserves and served for two more years. He was honorably discharged in 1961. Floyd was married and had two sons, later divorcing.
