WORLAND – A female black bear was euthanized by Ten Sleep District Game Warden Tom Desomber on Saturday, Aug. 29, after becoming habitated in a quest for hibernation protein. “Basically,” said Desomber, “a fed bear is a dead bear. It’s sad, but it became accustomed to finding human food in the area and had to be put down.” The bear, estimated to be 3 years old, had become a problem over the last month, returning to cabins and campsites along West Ten Sleep Creek Road, in a search for food left by campers and seasonal cabin owners. “She was re...
WORLAND — In a rush to dump their trash for free, Washakie County residents were flocking to the Worland landfill in anticipation of the tipping fees which took effect today. “That’s not even the beginning of it,” Worland landfill manager Gene Claime said Monday. “On a normal Saturday, you have between 50 and 75 customers. The resiliency the Lady Warriors showed was exactly what coach Brittany Miller wanted to see out of her team. "Day one in Douglas, we didn't play like we had been in p...

I reviewed my mental list of “one of these days” spots – places I’d said to myself I should go, but never got around to it – and came up with the BLM’s dinosaur track display near Shell. So, we headed out of Worland about 10 a. m. It only took about an hour to come to a sign declaring “DINOSAUR TRACKS,” found about 10 miles east of Greybull on the south side of U. S. Highway 1...
