WORLAND - "When I was growing up in Worland, I was a little punk with a rat-tail," remembers K. Harrison Sweeney. "If it hadn't been for a few great teachers, and finally discovering acting, I probably would've ended up at the Boys School or in jail." For Sweeney, a 1996 graduate and valedictorian of Worland High School (then known as Kevin Schneider), the road from Worland to Hollywood has been a long journey of self-determination, hard work, and recognizing opportunity as it appears. "You've...
WORLAND – Big Horn Redimix truck driver Bruce Severson's Friday started off well, but ended in flames at the intersection of West River Road and 15 Mile Road in Worland at 8:45 a.m. "I left Greybull and stopped in Basin for coffee and everything was fine until here when the tires started smoking," Severson said. The fire started on the driver's side of the trailer but soon engulfed both sides. Worland Fire Department arrived and quickly had everything under control. No one was hurt in the i...
LARAMIE – On Nov. 30, 2013, Cameron Coffman saw mop-up duty at quarterback for Indiana in a 56-36 home victory over Purdue. But Coffman realized a change was needed earlier than that. He was a 10-game starter in 2012 with the Hoosiers, where he was second in the Big Ten Conference in passing yards per game, completions and attempts; third in passing yards; and fourth in total offense as Indiana finished with a 5-7 record. The coaching staff went in a different direction the following season a...
WORLAND — Worland city councilors are seeking someone to fill a vacant seat. The seat was vacated by former Ward 3 Councilperson Jerry Alexander in July. According to Worland Mayor Dave Duffy, one person has expressed interest in filling the empty seat, but the party is not entirely sure he wants to serve on the council. “He’s going to come watch a meeting and see if it’s something he wants to do. He’s not as interested as someone saying, ‘pick me, pick me,’” Duffy said. Interested parties may submit a letter of interest to Mayor Duffy at...
LANDER – Todd Weber’s head coaching debut didn’t go as smoothly as he would have liked Friday, but he was happy with the result as the Warriors found a way to win a close game in Lander 13-6. The offense had trouble sustaining drives due to mental errors across the offensive line – mainly false start penalties, bad exchanges from the center to quarterback and subpar pass protection. Luckily the defense was up to the task, holding Lander to only 97 yards of total offense and also keeping the offense from scoring. “I was super proud of our kids,...
