  • The weather is fascinating

    John Davis, Columnist|Sep 20, 2016

I remain fascinated by the weather; it is so wonderfully variable. I recall a meteorological reference to the weather being, “normal; chaotic.” Every year presents its own unique events. This year we’ve had a lot of up and down, especially recently. In general, I don’t like summer. To me, no day can be deemed acceptable if the temperature exceeds 89 degrees. So, I watch the temperature closely in August, hoping that we’ll have cold spells as we await autumn. And I’ve been pleased to note that we had exactly that during August. Yeah, we ha...

  • Young Lady Pioneers working though learning curve

    Alex Kuhn, Sports Editor|Sep 20, 2016

TEN SLEEP - The Ten Sleep Lady Pioneers (4-11) have shown flashes of being an excellent team but at the same time have had the miscues common of a young learning team. On Friday night Ten Sleep lost at home to conference foe Dubois (6-8) 3-1 and Saturday night, still in the friendly confines of Ten Sleep Gymnasium, dropped another match to conference rival Burlington 3-0. Against Burlington the Lady Pioneers took leads late in each of the three games but could not string together a series of...

WORLAND - After losing to Douglas 3-1 in their first home match of the 2016 season Friday night. The Worland Lady Warriors (12-2) regrouped for their next home match Saturday afternoon and swiftly sent the Newcastle Lady Dogies (2-14) packing 3-0. Saturday, Worland was without seniors Bailey Gibbons (rodeo) and Lyndzi Rich (recruiting visit) but the team used its depth and a laser like focus to pick up their first home match win of the season. While Newcastle was not the quality of opponent...

Authorities said he underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the leg. Two officers were wounded in the shootout but w...

  • Minnesota mall stabbing's potential terrorism raises fears

    Sep 20, 2016

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — The stabbings of nine people at a Minnesota mall look to be the work of a “lone attacker,” officials said Monday, and federal authorities are looking at whether it was a potential act of terrorism in an immigrant-rich state that has struggled to stop the recruiting of its young men by groups including the Islamic State. “We haven’t uncovered anything that would suggest other than a lone attacker at this point,” St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson said at a news conference with Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton. “If that ch...
