  • Karla's Kolumn: Another great season of AGT

    Karla Pomeroy, Editor|Sep 22, 2018

As you know America’s Got Talent or AGT for short, has become a favorite pastime for me during the summer, which works to the advantage of my husband, who due to his work schedule can avoid it for the most part. He does not share my enthusiasm for the show. Every singer that comes on he says the same thing, “Don’t give up your day job.” And, he’d be right on many of them. They had quite a variety of singers this year, trios and duos and young and old, some talented and some not as talented. The singers who advanced to the finals most definitel...

  • Commission rejects larger classroom numbers

    SETH KLAMANN, Casper Star-Tribune-WNE|Sep 22, 2018

CASPER — A state commission voted Thursday to maintain the number of elementary students that can be in a Wyoming classroom after pushback from educators and some lawmakers. The School Facilities Committee was considering whether to allow all elementary grade levels to max out classroom sizes at 25 students. Lawmakers and facilities officials said the proposed change was an attempt to let schools maximize their space as the state moves away from its period of constructing new buildings to maintaining its current fleet. But opponents, like the W...

    Karla Pomeroy, Editor|Sep 22, 2018

WORLAND — Wyoming governor candidate Mary Throne stopped in Worland Friday to encourage early voting, speak to future voters at Worland Middle School and visit the Worland Senior Citizens Center. Throne, who easily won the Democratic party nomination in the Aug. 21 primary election, said she doesn’t like labels and the governor’s race is the perfect race for that. Traditionally in Wyoming, she said, voters vote for the best person, regardless of party, for governor, noting the many Democratic governors the state has elected. Throne was also...

  • Resiliency and big plays fuel Warriors comeback victory over Riverton

    Alex Kuhn, Sports Editor|Sep 22, 2018

WORLAND - Just like a top MLB pitcher or NFL QB, the Worland High School football team showed a remarkable ability to shake off mistakes and right their error with a big play. The Warriors never folded during their 33-30 homecoming victory over the Riverton Wolverines Friday night at Worland High School. "They just kept playing hard. There were a lot of ups and a lot of downs and they just kept playing through it. We did a better job of moving on from the mistakes than we have in the past...

  • Hear Me Out...Who has been more disappointing, the '18 Cubs or the Predator franchise?

    Alex Kuhn, Sports Editor|Sep 22, 2018

On the surface, it might seem like the 2018 Chicago Cubs and the Predator movie franchise don't have a lot in common but believe me they do. I just made the connection this week, so don't feel bad if you didn't link the two. On the way to see the latest Predator movie at the Washakie Twin Cinemas. I was thinking about my favorite baseball team, the Cubs if you haven't figured that out. All season long the Cubs haven't really put it together and have been a good but non-contender team. They've...

CHEYENNE - Monday, a federal judge ruled against the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and overturned the Service’s action to remove grizzly bears in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem from the endangered species list. This means grizzly bears in Wyoming are now under federal management. Questions related to the review of the judge’s decision will be handled by the Wyoming Attorney General’s Office. Governor Matt Mead issued this response, “I am disappointed with today’s decision. Grizzly bear recovery should be viewed as a conservation success sto...
