  • Logging operations at Cutler Hill Nordic Trails underway

    SHERIDAN – Over the past couple years, you may have noticed orange and blue painted trees near the Cutler Hill Nordic trails. This area is part of the Forest Service’s Johnson Creek Timber Sale. Temporary road construction work for the timber sale began in October. Recently, logging crews started felling operations. Crews began hauling logs off of the Johnson Creek Road, (FSR) 194, within the Cutler Nordic ski boundary this week.     LARAMIE — University of Wyoming students will receive enhanced advising, career preparation and other student services following the UW Board of Trustees’ approval of a plan to institute cost-based fees for academic programs. The board voted today (Thursday) in favor of the program fees proposal, crafted by a task force appointed by President Laurie Nichols and supported by the Associated Students of UW. Barbara was born January 13, 1943, in Worland, Wyoming, a daughter of the late Carl A. and Doris I. (Erhardt) Metzler. Barbara worked as a receiving manager for Kmart until her retirement in 2004.     Joan Louise McGarvin, 69, a sixty three year resident of Worland passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017. Joan was born on October 7, 1948 to Elmer and Martha Butz in Wheatland, WY. In 1955 the family moved to Worland for better farming opportunities. Joan, her sisters and one brother enjoyed a lively childhood. She was active in the church youth group and also enjoyed driving the tractor on the farm. Joan graduated from Worland High School in 1967. She then attended the University of Wyoming.... Full story
