  • Young Rebels picking up valuable experience

    Alex Kuhn, Sports Editor|Dec 27, 2016

BASIN - Rebuilding years are always a taxing endeavor and it has been no different for the Riverside High School (0-2) boys basketball team but for these young Rebels they're still going to give maximum effort each time they step on the court. The Rebels opened their season at the Shoshoni Canyon Classic on Dec. 15-16 against 1A Saratoga and 1A Dubois. With only 10 players on the roster, two of which are upperclassmen, senior Michael Wildman and junior Justen Miller, and the rest underclassmen,...

  • A look at the Electoral College

    John Davis, Columnist|Dec 27, 2016

I don’t usually write about controversial subjects in this column, but there’s one subject that’s arisen lately that I want to talk about. I’m referring to the Electoral College and the push by some folks to abolish it. The bankruptcy lawyer and son of an Orthodox rabbi is everything Obama is not: a fervent supporter of Israeli settlements, opponent of Palestinian statehood and unrelenting defender of Israel’s government. So far to the right is Friedman that many Israel supporters worry he could push Israel’s hawkish Prime M...

  • AP poll: Americans hopeful for a better 2017

    Dec 27, 2016

NEW YORK (AP) — A poll finds that Americans are hopeful that things are going to get better for the country in 2017 after a year filled with wrenching politics, foreign conflicts and mass shootings. The annual New Year’s poll by The Associated Press and the Times Square Alliance found that 55 percent of Americans polled believe 2017 will be better for them personally. That’s a 12-point improvement from last year’s poll. About a third of people answering the poll said things were worse for the country in 2016 than they had been in 2015. Only 18...

  • Worland digs itself out of Christmas snow

    Karla Pomeroy, Editor|Dec 27, 2016

WORLAND - The National Weather Service Field Office in Riverton recorded one report of 10 inches in Worland for the Christmas Day storm that hit the state. The nearly a foot of snow did not produce a lot of moisture, however, with the NWS Climate Data Center reporting .12 inches of moisture for Christmas Day. Normal precipitation for Christmas Day is .01 inches with a record of .25 inches in 2014. To date, Worland has received .19 inches of moisture, which is right at the average for December...
