WORLAND - Friday night the Worland Warriors (3-3) battled their rival the Powell Panthers (3-3) in an important 3A West conference matchup at Warrior Stadium. The winner would take a step closer to securing a playoff berth, while the loser may face uncertainty in the closing weeks of the season. Unfortunately, the Warriors were the latter, losing 21-14 to the Panthers. "I'll have to look at the film to see where we are for next week but Powell is a good team. Our kids played hard and stayed...

The kids rose to the occasion what...
BUFFALO - Having defeated 3A East West Quadrant opponents Thermopolis and Rawlins earlier in the week. The Worland Lady Warriors (16-2) traveled to Buffalo (16-3) and defeated the Lady Bison 3-0 Saturday afternoon in a matchup against top-ranked opponents. WHS volleyball coach Brittany Miller said Saturday's victory was due to the Lady Warriors precision passing and serving as well as a strong defensive tone that was set early. "We talked about the week being like state, by playing on Thursday,...
TEN SLEEP - The young Lady Pioneers volleyball team has had their share of ups and downs this season. One of those downs came Saturday afternoon as they lost to the visiting St. Stephens Lady Eagles 3-1. "We're trying to do everything all at once," said Ten Sleep Volleyball Coach Desiree Egger. "So going forward it's going to be about getting back to the basics. We had trouble with our serve/receive which makes it difficult to group points together. This week we'll focus on settling down and...
I have a lot of love/hate relationships in my life. For example I love America's Got Talent but hate the best talent show in the world because, and here's the dirty secret, true democracy is terrible. In past seasons dogs have beaten out a comedian and this season an above-average singer won over the 14-year-old opera singer who can belt it out like a 20-year opera veteran. True democracy is for the birds. Another love/hate, Netflix's House of Cards, I love the cast, Robin Wright and the rest...
WORLAND - The Rawlins Lady Outlaws pushed the Lady Warriors at home Friday night but Worland dug deep and willed their way to a 3-1 match win. WHS volleyball coach Brittany Miller said Rawlins would be a scrappy team and the Lady Outlaws lived up to that billing as they made Worland work for each point. Players on both teams were diving, stretching and hustling to make a play on each ball all night. In game one the Lady Warriors started out on a 5-0 run then kept the Lady Outlaws at a...

The rain wasn't letting up Friday night and neither were the Warriors, as their punishing defense and physically, unrelenting offense wrecked the Jackson Broncs securing a homecoming victory for the second straight season. After the race, the course, which will be at Green Hills Golf Cour...
TEN SLEEP - The Ten Sleep Lady Pioneers (4-11) have shown flashes of being an excellent team but at the same time have had the miscues common of a young learning team. On Friday night Ten Sleep lost at home to conference foe Dubois (6-8) 3-1 and Saturday night, still in the friendly confines of Ten Sleep Gymnasium, dropped another match to conference rival Burlington 3-0. Against Burlington the Lady Pioneers took leads late in each of the three games but could not string together a series of...

Saturday, Worland was without seniors Bailey Gibbons (rodeo) and Lyndzi Rich (recruiting visit) but the team used its depth and a laser like focus to pick up their first home match win of the season. While Newcastle was not the quality of opponent...
My god has Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the anthem carried on for much longer than I thought. The story has some legs and I don't see it tiring anytime soon, well maybe for a stretch in November. Kaepernick's protest has everyone exercising their God-given right to express their opinions. While everyone has the liberty to express their thoughts it doesn't mean everything said is brilliant. With that being said it's time to pay tribute the dumbest comments made in response to...
BUFFALO - If one thing has been made certain in the young 2016 Worland High School football season, it is these Warriors are going to battle through any and all adversity. On the road again against the WyoPreps No. 5 ranked Buffalo Bison the Warriors not only fought back to win 28-21, after being down 21-13, but also spoiled homecoming for BHS. At the end of the first half Buffalo led Worland 14-13 and starting the third quarter things seemed to bounce in favor of the Bison. There was a muffed...
