THERMOPOLIS - The Hot Springs County High School cross-country team held their own on their home course last week as they hosted the Bobcat Invitational at the Legion Town and Country Golf Course in Thermopolis on Sept. 21. When the Jags Jalen Ramsey requested a trade at the end of Week 2, all the NFL guys lost their minds and were claiming the NFL was turning into the NBA. Obviously, it was an overreaction because there are plenty of cases with NFL superstars demanding a trade. It’s just a superstar thing. Last week the California Senate passed a bill that’s going to allow student-athletes to seek out endorsements and make money off their likenesses. It’s a groundbreaking bill that I’m sure has NCAA president Mark Emmett and pals panicked. If California Governor Gavin Newsome signs the bill it will put the NCAA in a tough position. THERMOPOLIS - The Hot Springs County High School volleyball team was on the road twice last week, first was their Sept. 12 match at Powell High School and on Sept. 13-14 they were at Rawlins High School for the Outlaw Invitational. CASPER — A University of Wyoming football player is facing felony charges after allegedly pointing an unloaded handgun at two people during an incident last week. Allen Smith III, a freshman defensive back, was booked into the Albany County Detention Center on Friday on two counts of aggravated assault and battery with the threat to use a drawn deadly weapon, according to the jail log. WORLAND - The scoreboard in the Worland High School football team's first game of the season was a bit deceiving. THERMOPOLIS - For seniors McKenna Bomengen and Tahja Hunt it has been quite the career for the Hot Springs County High School cross-country runners. The Lady Bobcat duo, as freshmen in 2016, were contributors to a team that finished as runners-up, with Hunt and Bomengen earning All-State honors. In 2017, they finished sixth and Bomengen earned her second All-State selection. WORLAND - The Worland High School golf team got their season underway in Powell and Cody last week on Aug. 15 and 16. The Warriors finished third overall and were the highest finishing 3A team, trailing only Natrona High School by one stroke and the tournament winners, Kelly Walsh High School, by 31 strokes. LARAMIE — Former University of Wyoming football player Carl Granderson has been released from the Albany County Detention Center after he was granted a reduced sentence by Campbell County district court judge John Perry in a Monday ruling. Granderson will now serve one year of supervised probation. He was sentenced to six months in jail by Albany County district court judge Tori Kricken after pleading no contest to two misdemeanors, one count of unlawful contact and one count of sexual battery. I’m a sucker for the one-man army, heist and/or unapologetic action movies, your “Diehards”, James Bond, anything with Dwayne Johnson or the “Fast and Furious” franchise. WORLAND - When Mike Propp and his Propper Golf Management got the contract to manage the Green Hills Golf Course in the fall of 2018 there was one man that Propp had in mind to become the course's new golf professional, that man is, Donnie Bjorhus.
