The Worland High School golf season wrapped up last week at the 3A State tournament at the Green Hills Golf Course in Worland on Sept. 15-16. It was also the final tournament for Worland's three seniors. Lovell's Erika Cook and Parker Paxton won the individual state championships. It was another big week for the Worland Lady Warriors swimming and diving team. Three athletes qualified for state, one of which was diver Haley Kinghorn. Competing in the Little League District tournament for the first time in over 30 years, the Worland Major and Minor Little League teams took a big step forward for their programs. Worland High School senior and Chief Washakie FFA member Sydnee Roady competed in her third National High School Finals Rodeo last week in Gillette. Roady competed in the reined cow horse competition. On her first ride on Monday, July 17, Roady placed fourth with a score of 282. The Worland Chiefs Post 44 C American Legion wrapped up their season last week, ending it with a 4-24 record. The revived program had its growing pains this season, but overall, it was a successful first season back in the American Legion ranks. The 2023 season was one of the best seasons in recent memory for the Worland High School track and field team, setting up a promising 2024 season.
