James Arthur Hinderliter, 72 passed away July 22, 2015 at his home near Pinedale, WY. after a battle with bone cancer. He was born to John Arthur and Clyde Lea (Spears) Hinderliter in Dothan, AL on November 11, 1942. His family were some of the first military dependents who lived in Japan after WWII. He attended Carroll High School in Ozark, AL. and joined the U.S. Air Force in March of 1960 at the age of 17. He was a member of the elite group, The Pathfinders, one of the Special Operations Groups that was formed by the U.S. Air Force that served in Southeast Asia. He was a recipient of several military decorations and served valiantly during the Vietnam Conflict. After he was honorably discharged from the U.S.A.F. he worked as a ranch hand and ranch manager in New Mexico and Texas. He attended welding school in Odessa, TX. and became a pipeline welder and worked in Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Montana, and North Dakota. He helped build several of the gas plants near Evanston, WY., including Anchutz, Rickman Creek and Whitney Canyon. He was medically retired from welding in 1984 after an industrial accident at the Anchutz plant. When he wasn’t welding, he always had ranching in his heart. He married Peggy Ann Kizer in 1962 in Abilene, TX and they were blessed with 3 children; Sherri Michael, Kelly Ann, and Kevin Wade. They later divorced. On July 12, 1986 he married Michele Rene (Siedschlaw) Giles in Pinedale, WY. To this union, she brought 2 children whom he loved as his own; Chris and Laila. They lived on a small ranch outside of Pinedale where he raised sheep and cattle and enjoyed raising and training quarter horses. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and served several years as an Elder. He was a past Vice President of the Woolgrowers Association in Sublette County and on the Board of Directors of Canyon Canal for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Michele, of 29 years. His children, Sherri Michael Davis of Worland, WY, Kelly Goss of Portales, NM, Kevin Hinderliter (Sandy) of Farson, WY, Chris Giles (Karen) of Madison, SD, and Laila (Stacy) Illoway of Pinedale, WY. Grandchildren include Joshua Davis (Katherine), Morgan Diede (Shawn), Shay Lynn Davis, all from Worland, WY, Joella Goss, of Portales, NM, Nathaniel, Warren and Ivy Hinderliter of Farson, WY, Jacob, Josh, Jessi, and Jenni Giles of Madison, SD and Blake and McKenzie Illoway of Pinedale, WY. Great Grandchildren: Haiden and Tallon Diede and Hannnah Davis of Worland WY. He is also survived by his sister Wanda Smith of Pensacola, FL., a sister-in-law Emily Hinderliter of Dothan, AL and 3 nephews and a niece. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles Edward and Dan Ricky Hinderliter of AL. and nephew Charles Edward Hinderliter Jr. Funeral services will be held on July 27, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Pinedale, WY. Military internment will follow in the Pinedale Cemetery. There will also be a reception at Rendezvous Point following the services.
