New interim managers at BLM office in Worland

WORLAND — The Bureau of Land Management Wyoming State Office welcomes several interim managers to the Wind River/Bighorn Basin District.

For the next four months, Duane Spencer will be the district manager. Spencer is currently the Buffalo field manager and brings with him a wealth of experience in Wyoming natural resource management.

In addition, BLM Wyoming’s Renewable Energy Coordination Office Supervisor Mike Valle will serve as the Worland field manager and Rawlins supervisory natural resource specialist Cade Powell will be the Worland assistant field manager for minerals and lands.

“We have a talented group of BLM employees in Wyoming and look forward to Duane, Mike and Cade being a part of the great work going on in our Wind River/Bighorn Basin District,” says BLM Wyoming Acting State Director Mary Jo Rugwell.

They will work in an acting capacity until the BLM permanently fills the positions, according to a press release.

In the Northern Wyoming Daily News’ recent series on the Bureau of Land Management district and field offices in Worland, Steve Dondero was serving as the district manager. Becky Good had been serving as field manager.

According to Cindy Wertz, public affairs specialist in the Wyoming state office, Dondero has retired.

Don Krump, former assistant field manager for minerals and lands, retired earlier this year.

Wertz said others are “working for the BLM in various capacities.”

Attempts to contact Dondero and Good for comment via traditional and social media were unsuccessful.
