Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
WORLAND – After tasting all the treats that the Wyoming BBQ had to offer on Friday, what better way to burn off all those extra calories than with a 5K run Saturday morning? That's exactly what happened with 19 runners and walkers participating in the first annual Wyoming BBQ 5K run at the Washakie County Fairgrounds.
The runners ran a "tough course that was mainly uphill for the first half," Tanya Kienlen, co-organizer, said.
The top three winners were:
First, Chance Martello with a time of 20:12.
Second, Josh Berdahl with a time of 22:09.
Third, Brenna Abel with a time of 22:12.
The prizes, donated by the Wind River Casino included: A hotel and casino gift certificate, a golf certificate and a white water rafting trip in addition to enough door prizes so that almost everyone went home with a prize.
Kienlen said that the Wyoming BBQ is "always a fun community event and we hope for more 5K participants next year."
