WORLAND — Sunlight Federal Credit Union, based out of Cody, shut down all debit transactions on Wednesday, after an apparent security breach. According to the SFCU web site, all debit cards have been suspended, and replacements are being issued, along with new private identification numbers.
The SFCU site goes on to warn customers of “scam” websites that may look like the SFCU homepage, with similar formatting and logos.
The warning on the website states, “Never type in Sunlight’s website address into an Internet search; this increases your chances of going to a false website. Always type the website address into the address bar. If you are not sure if you are on the right website, contact Sunlight.”
The company also warns customers on the website that Sunlight FCU “will never call or send a text or email requesting that you contact us regarding your debit or Visa card. Receipt of email messages with generic names like Administrator, Information @sunlightfcu.org are invalid and have not originated with our institution.”
In a report issued by the National Credit Union Service Organization, SFCU employs 28 in their four Wyoming branches, including a branch in Worland, servicing 11,165 customers with total assets of more than $90 million.
At press time, Daily News calls to CEO Cindy Bennett for more information and updates had not been returned.
