Software glitch hinders paper delivery

WORLAND — Due to a software glitch at the Northern Wyoming Daily News, about 1,200 subscribers did not get their newspapers Thursday.

“We fixed it as of this morning,” Daily News Business Manager Dennis Jones said Thursday.

According to Jones, the software the Daily News uses to print mailing labels went down, so Worland-area subscribers did not receive their newspapers.

Jones said the Daily News has remedied the problem and subscribers should expect to receive a paper today.

“We are rectifying this as we have talked to the computer programmers. We have also talked to the post office, and we have now set up emergency communication lines between us and them – which have not been in effect prior to this situation,” Jones said, adding that the post office was very helpful with rectifying the situation.

The post office attempted to contact the Daily News sometime after 3 a.m. Thursday morning, Jones said.

Jones added that if any subscribers did not get Thursday’s issue, copies are available at the Daily News office and a free version of the online edition is available at wyodaily.com.

Northern Wyoming Daily News Publisher Patrick Murphy commended office and editorial staff for hand-delivering papers to customers Thursday.
