Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Tim L. Sutherland, 67, passed away at Worland Healthcare Center in Worland on September 21, 2015.
Tim was born on November 24, 1947 in Worland to Dorothy Lucile (Clark) and Boyd Allen Sutherland. He was raised in Worland and attended schools here. He graduated from Worland High School in 1967.
In November 1967 he joined the U. S. Army and became aviation-communications equipment repairman. He then served two tours of duty in Vietnam before being discharged in February 1970.
Tim then returned to Worland until the fall of 1970 when he enrolled at Central Wyoming College in Riverton, obtaining an Associated of Science degree in 1972. He returned to Worland to work for Worland Cable TV, eventually transferring to Thermopolis, WY.
He found better employment by going to work for Conoco Oil as an oil well maintenance man, first in Thermopolis, then near Riverton, WY. In 1983 he transferred to Dickinson, ND.
He loved working in the oilfields, but the call of better hunting and fishing back home in Wyoming was too great, so he moved back to Worland in the late 1990’s. He then worked for an oilfield chemical supply company for several years, and was a seasonal employee for the BLM for a couple of years.
He liked to hunt and fish, to spend time at the American Legion visiting with his buddies, but most of all he loved to collect guns and reload ammo. He was a life member of the NRA. He also had restored a ’68 Shelby Mustang GT500 which was a source of enjoyment, and he liked tinkering with vehicles
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tim is survived by his sisters Diana (David) Veile of Worland, WY and Marsha Rankine of Cheyenne, WY; and by his nieces and nephews Brooke (Seth Shikora) Veile of Portland, OR, Jennifer (Jim) Wetherbee and Jarrod Veile of Worland, WY, and Duane (Shannon) Rankine of Greeley, CO; by several great nephews and great nieces; and by numerous cousins.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland. Dr. Ralph Partelow will officiate, and American Legion Post #44 will provide graveside military honors.
Veile Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
