WORLAND - Worland High School marching band and color guard performed at the third annual Northern Wyoming Marching Band Invitational Monday night in Buffalo.
Band director Willie Wright during an interview Tuesday said the invitational is an opportunity for band to perform for each other and to get a clinic by judges in marching, music, percussion and color guard. He said the bands use the invitational as a teaching tool and a tune up for the State Marching Festival at the Casper Events Center Oct. 17.
Performing Monday were Worland, Buffalo and Cody. Riverton participated last year when Worland hosted the event, Wright said.
"It really helps us with our state performance," Wright said.
He added, "I think the band has shown great progress all season. The performance, although excellent, isn't quite up to our standards for state festival, yet, but I have a lot of confidence in the students that it soon will be. I also thought their effort was top-notched last night and will keep getting better for the final two weeks."
