Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Lois Ann (Lavin) Hillberry, 73, our beautiful and loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother passed away on October 31, 2015 in Thornton, CO surrounded by her family. Born on April 25, 1942 in Sheridan, Wyoming, Lois was the oldest daughter and third child of Louis and Ann Lavin and grew up in Worland, WY. She married her husband, Dwaine, of 53 years on June 24th, 1962 and moved to Craig, CO where she became a mother and raised her four active daughters.
Lois was a devoted mother and wife, active year round providing for her family. As a passionate cook, her family and friends enjoyed amazing home cooked meals, potluck dishes and wonderful baked goods. She was an accomplished seamstress and often had her four daughters wearing matching homemade outfits so she could pick them out in a crowd. She went on to make many Halloween costumes, prom dresses and wedding dresses.
Lois had many roles when her daughters were young. She was a 4-H leader, a favorite elementary schoolroom mother, a Brownie leader and a team driver for the girls' softball teams. As her girls got older, she became their biggest fan and cheerleader during volleyball, basketball and track seasons. As the years passed, her role changed to active and loving grandmother. Lois instilled a strong sense of family in her daughters, and without exception the family gathered every year to celebrate Christmas.
She enjoyed traveling with her family and took trips to England, Mexico, Bahamas, Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, Florida in addition to many road/camping trips.
Lois' quick wit and crazy sense of humor colored every occasion! She was her family's rock, the steady beat in their lives, and they will miss her immensely.
She is survived by her husband Dwaine Hillberry of Craig, CO; by her daughters LeeAnn (David) Rodenbaugh of Thornton, CO, Marlene (Steve) Rogers of Warner Robins, GA, Jodi (Jeff) Carter of Kalispell, MT, and Teresa (Greg Eichinger) Tobin of Frederick, CO; and by her grandchildren Dillon, Allie, Emily, Bailey, Cade, and Dawson; by her brother Verdie (Patty) Lavin of Miles City, MT, and by her sister Helen Saban of Shell, WY. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother Robert Lavin.
Funeral services will be held at Veile Mortuary Chapel at 301 South 8th Street in Worland, Wyoming on Saturday, November 7th at 11:00am. The casket will be open on Saturday one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Worland.
