Michael James Mead

Michael James Mead, 53, passed away at his home in Stokesdale, North Carolina on October 27, 2015.

Born to Marvin and Shirley Mead in Worland, Wyoming, Mike was the youngest of four children. Upon graduation from Worland High School, Mike joinded the Navy and traveled the world. During his service, he was deployed on two tours of duty, in June 1982 on the USS Forrestal and in April 1984 on the USS Saratoga. In 1985, Mike was honorably discharged.

Mike married Kristie Kanaly of Laramie, Wyoming, in August of 1988. Shortly after they were married, Mike began work with Grumman Aircraft in St. Augustine, Florida. Due to Mike's employment, he and his family moved around the country. He also was employed by Boeing in Everett, Washington; McDonnell-Douglas in San Diego, California; TWA/American Airlines in Kansas City, Missouri; American Airlines in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and most recently in North Carolina and Hong Kong. Mike was an accomplished production supervisor, quality control supervisor, technical representative, among many other positions, and well respected by his peers.

Mike loved the outdoors including fishing, gardening, hunting, grilling, and being at the ocean. He was a skilled mechanic and masterful tinkerer, taking pride fixing everything himself at home. He was a proud American, father, and grandfather.

Mike is survived by his wife Kristie of Stokesdale, NC; their three children, Jessica (Justin) Borah of Gillette, WY; Eli Klimek of Los Angeles, CA; Kathryn (Jeff) Norberg of Denver, CO; his parents, Marvin and Shirley Mead of Worland, WY; three siblings, Terri Mead of Worland, WY; Ronald (Colleen) Mead of San Tan Valley, AZ; and Richard (Stephanie) Mead of Worland, WY; and six grandchildren.

A military service and interment will be held on November 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming.
