Sidney H. Geis

He was born on July 28, 1930 at the Harvard Ranch near Ten Sleep, Wyoming. He was the son of Hazel Irene (Harvard) and Nicholas E. Geis. He moved to Worland as a boy and had attended schools in Ten Sleep and Worland.

In his early teen years he went to work in the family trucking business, Nick Geis Trucking. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in 1951 and was stationed at Biloxi, Mississippi. He met the love of his life, Dolores E. "Dee" Bachus in New Orleans, LA, and the couple were married on November 16, 1953 in Biloxi. Following his discharge, the family moved back to Worland in June 1955.

The joys of his life were his family and driving truck. He worked with his family for many years before starting his own trucking company, D & S Transports. His favorite saying was, "If the good Lord wanted me to walk, he would have made me a sheepherder, not a truck driver." In 2006, he was awarded the Pioneer Truck Driver of the Year Award by the Wyoming Trucking Assn.

His favorite hangout was at Maggie's Café where he enjoyed visiting with everyone. He also enjoyed playing pinochle with brother Jerry and his sister and brother in law, Jane and Jim O'Connor.

He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church (LCMS) and was a life member of the Worland Elks Lodge.

Preceding him in death are his wife Dee in 1998; and his parents and his brothers Neil Geis and Homer Geis Sr.
