Funeral services for Glenna Tippets will be Friday, December 4, 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Thermopolis. Visitation will be Thursday eve, 7 to 9 PM at the church. Glenna passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital.

Born 100 years ago, August 31, 1915 in Hurricane, UT she was the daughter of Orin and Harriet (Flanigan) Wood. Her mother died when she was 3 and her father when she was 8. She and her brothers were raised by Anna Jennings, their stepmother.

After graduating from high school she attended college at Cedar City, UT, then finished her bachelor degree in education at BYU where she met her future husband. She married Don Harold Tippets in 1937 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Teaching in one room schools she taught in Crook County, Moorcroft and Thermopolis. The family moved to Thermopolis in 1947. In 1964 Glenna was hired by the Department of Family Services serving until 1979.

Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served many callings including mission work in Winnipeg, Canada. She was active in women's homemaker club, various civic organizations and advisory boards for Thermopolis and the State of Wyoming. For several years she was a 4-H Leader for many children in the county.

Glenna had great memories of traveling around the world with her husband while he worked in Afghanistan for the University of Wyoming. She had visited the Far East visiting her daughter, Melene and family in Okinawa, Korea and the Philippines..

She was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law, Don Lockhart; and her brothers, LuWayne, Cleo, Calvert and Jack; sister, Leah Naegle. Loved ones remaining include her sister, Maud Brown; children, Tamara Lockhart, Elvis (Anne) Tippets, Ashby "Happy" (Susan) Tippets, Melene (Bill) Mierzejewski and Jeryl Don Tippets; 26 grandchildren, 71 great, grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
