WORLAND - Worland High Drama took second place in 3A Sweepstakes at the Wyoming State Drama Contest in Laramie last week.
According to Coach Rick Dorn, 28 schools competed in the contest. Worland High took 46 students down Thursday morning to compete in 10 different acting and technical events.
"The team success was a true group effort, and the entire town should be proud of the excellent students who competed," Dorn said.
Four earned individual Class 3A state titles. Morgan Pennington won in costume design second year. This is her second state title. Matthew Sanchez won in realistic make-up-second year. Saige Winters won her title in fantasy make-up second year. Sariah Durrant won in fantasy make-up third year.
All four earned All-State honors.
Others earning places were:
Costume Design - first year - Jamon Dower took sixth and Carmen Elliott took eighth
Costume Design - third year - Sariah Durrant took 12th place
Lighting Design - first year - Paris Caines took sixth and Hailee Hunter took 12th
Lighting Design - third year - Ben Dorn took fourth place
Lighting Design - fourth year - Riley Harman took eighth place
Realistic Make-up - third year - Jordan Emmett earned third place and was named to All-State
Fantasy Make-up - second year - Shiloh Winters earned seventh place
Publicity Design - second year - Madisyn Boltz took 11th place
Publicity Design - third year - Ben Dorn took seventh place and Dalen Brazelton took 14th
Publicity Design - fourth year - Carmen Elliott took seventh place, Alex Mulhall took eighth, and Narisse Trippel took 10th
Set Design - first year - Tristan Nemyo took sixth place and Madisyn Boltz took 11th
Set Design - second year - Emrie Jolley took sixth, Riley Harman took 11th, and Emma Edholm took 12th
In Dramatic Monologue - Courtney Woolery was named Honorable Mention All-State, and Sullie-Ann Keuntjes earned seventh place and Honorable Mention All-State.
Dorn said, "One of Sullie-Ann's judges ranked her second overall."
In Humorous Duet - Dalen Brazelton and Dominic Damiano received Honorable Mention All-State Cast and placed 12th overall, and Sariah Durrant and Daniel Igleheart were named All-State Cast and their duet of Words, Words, Words took second place overall.
In Dramatic Duet - Saige Winters and Shiloh Winters were named Honorable Mention All-State and their duet was named 12th place, and Riley Harman received All-State Cast for her duet.
Original Script - Duo - Emily Brown took seventh and Paris Caines took eighth
Original Script - One-Act Play - Narisse Trippel won second and earned All-State honors
The Arena play, Wit, took fifth overall, and cast members Daniel Igleheart and Alex Mulhall were named Honorable Mention All-State Cast.
The Group Performance Art play, "Trapped with the Giggles," took fourth overall, and the entire cast was named to All-State Cast: Dane Bennett, Sariah Durrant, Saige Winters, Shiloh Winters, Mackenzie Cottrell, Riley Harman, Hannah McEndree, Dominic Damiano, Delanie Campbell, Saibrynn Dover, and Matthew Sanchez.
Dorn said in a new category that didn't count toward Sweepstakes, Durrant earned an invitation to the International Thespian Festival by being one of only three students selected as superior in musical performance. She performed the song, Green Gables, from the musical Anne of Green Gables.
