WORLAND — During their monthly meeting Thursday, Washakie County Hospital Board members discussed the ongoing $23.4 million renovation at Washakie Medical Center in Worland and the state site survey which was conducted this week.
Surveyors from the Wyoming Department of Health were at Washakie Medical Center for two days this week to review the hospital and the performance of its staff.
WMC Chief Financial Officer Jennifer McMillan said that the hospital and its staff performed extremely well during the two-day survey.
“We’re above standard,” McMillan said Thursday.
McMillan said state surveyors noted “minimal concerns” during their debriefing.
Site surveys are typically conducted biannually, but the last survey was conducted in Worland in 2011.
“We were long overdue,” McMillan said.
“They have 10 business days to give us their final findings in written form. They’ve taken that to their supervisor for any adjustment of what they found in the field. We have 10 calendar days to respond with our course of action. We’ll actually start that tomorrow,” McMillan said.
Also during Thursday’s meeting, the board awarded a $239,000 contract to Buffalo-based Diamond Point Construction Inc. for renovations for the facility’s physical therapy room.
CTA Architects designed the plans for the renovation. Diamond Point will have 120 days to complete the project.
Discussing the renovation project, board member Dan Scheuerman pointed out that $8 million has gone to businesses based in Wyoming.
