Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
WORLAND - The Bureau of Land Management has selected Mike Phillips as the new field manager for its Worland Field Office. Phillips served as the assistant field manager for renewable resources in Worland since 2007.
"We're happy to have Mike as the Worland Field Manager," said Mary Jo Rugwell, interim state director for BLM Wyoming. "His experience with building and maintaining strong relationships in the community will be an asset to the Worland Field Office."
In 1991, Phillips joined the BLM as a rangeland management specialist in the Platte River Resource Area, which was later renamed the Casper Field Office. He has served as an interim manager in various capacities in Casper, Worland, Rock Springs and Cheyenne, and in Wenatchee, Washington.
"I am excited and honored to be the new Worland Field Manager," said Phillips. "I look forward to my new duties and working with folks in the Bighorn Basin and the great staff here at the office."
Phillips received an associate degree in agriculture from Eastern Wyoming College and a Bachelor of Science in range management from the University of Wyoming. He enjoys fly fishing, horseback riding and hunting on Wyoming public lands.
The public will be invited to meet Phillips at his official installation ceremony to be held this spring.
