POWELL (AP) — A northwestern Wyoming man is facing animal cruelty charges after authorities say they found several dead and malnourished horses on his property.
The Powell Tribune reports that 39-year-old Mike Wood pleaded not guilty to 13 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty for Monday. The Park County Sheriff’s Office says Wood had been underfeeding the horses, causing seven of the animals to die and six to be malnourished.
Prosecutors say Wood will likely face additional charges for a number of dogs and cats that were either found dead or in poor health on the property in Clark.
Wood asked for a lower bail in court Monday, saying he still has to work and pay bills.
But the judge denied his request and left bail at $7,500.
