Seven candidates confirmed to attend
WORLAND –The Washakie County Republican Party will host the first U.S. House of Representatives debate Saturday in Worland, for seven candidates vying to fill a seat left vacant by Rep. Cynthia Lummis. Lummis announced that she would not seek re-election in 2015.
The debate and following meet-and-greet will be held at the Washakie Museum and Cultural Center, starting at 3 p.m. The event will be moderated by Rep. Mike Greear, and will feature 10 questions, with each candidate allowed two minutes to respond and a five-minute limit for closing remarks.
Candidates registered for the debate are State Senator Leland Christensen of Alta, State Representative Tim Stubson of Casper, Jason Senteney of Yoder, Charlie Tyrell of Casper, Rex Rammell of Gillette, Mike Konsmo of Powell, and Darek Farmer of Rawlins.
Washakie County Republican Party Vice Chairman Ron Harvey reported that 80 seats to the debate have been presold as of Thursday, with 70 seats remaining. Harvey said tickets will be sold at the door until the event is sold out.
