Pioneers pick up win in Dubois while Lady Pioneers struggle

The Pioneers were able to pick up a win on the road on Saturday, taking down Dubois on its home court 64-59 to improve their record to 5-9 overall and even their record in the 1A Northwest to 1-1.

Sam Treece and Quentin Fettig both finished the game with 19 points in the win.

“Sam Treece was a mismatch for Dubois, we isolated him early and he put up a double-double in the first half alone,” Ten Sleep boys basketball coach Ben Schwarz said on Monday.

The Pioneers were in control of the game in the first half, but lapses on offense allowed Dubois to come back in the second half and nearly steal a win.

“We let them back in the game late due to lack of execution. We made tough, unnecessary passes. However, I liked the way we played with poise in the last two minutes. Quentin hit two big free throws in the last 10 seconds to ice the game for us,” Schwarz said.

The Lady Pioneers (5-7, 0-2 1A Northwest) didn’t have the same kind of luck as the boys, falling to the Lady Rams 50-23 on Saturday.

Up next, Ten Sleep will host Meeteetse for a pair of games this Friday, Jan. 29.
