United Airlines to continue Cody-to-Denver flights

POWELL (AP) — United Airlines will continue to offer daily, round-trip flights between Cody and Denver despite losing some federal subsidies for the route.

The Powell Tribune reports that Yellowstone Regional Airport Manager Bob Hooper said Monday that the airline will continue the service, while also looking into other options.

Hooper, who had just met with United officials in Chicago, said the airline never said they planned to stop the Cody flights.

United has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the federal government during the lower-traffic months of October through May. Those subsidies will end March 1.

Park County Commissioner Bucky Hall says the airline has committed to keeping the Cody-Denver service at least through the summer.

More than 65,000 passengers traveled through Yellowstone Regional Airport last year.
