Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years

Audrey Irene Rubis

Audrey Irene Rubis, age 88, went to be with her Lord surrounded by her family on Monday, March 7, 2016.

Audrey was born October 7, 1927 in Basin to Peter and Marie (Hartman) Miller. She attended school in Basin and Worland. After Audrey graduated from high school, she worked at the feed store, for an optometrist, and then worked as a secretary for the bank. She lived with her grandmother until she met the love of her life, Jimmy Rubis, at the old Buchanan house in Manderson at the age of 14. Eleven years after the war, Audrey and Jimmy went out on a blind date and married a year and a half later on March 27, 1955.

Audrey was always bashful and quiet, and Jimmy was quite the opposite. They loved to dance, go to the movies, and play cards with friends. They were blessed with four children, Kristine (Brent) Godfrey of Basin, Kay (Rich) Pingetzer of Shoshoni, Karen (Ben) Fagerstone of Casper, and Kenny (Faith) Rubis of Wright.

Audrey enjoyed gardening, cooking, and caring for her children and grandchildren on the farm for 61 years. She relished the times that she spent with her sister, Joyce. It was through her loyalty to the church, community, and the Lord that many will remember her as a devoted and faithful servant.

Audrey is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Marie Miller; her husband, Jimmy Rubis; her granddaughter, Kelly Rubis; and her brother, Elmer Miller.

Audrey is survived by her children; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great aunt, Rose Brown; one brother, Gene Miller; and her sister, Joyce Fausset.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at The Cloud Peak Community Bible Church formerly known as the Manderson Community Bible Church in Manderson with Reverend Don Wood officiating. A meal for family and friends will immediately follow the service at the church.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorials in Audrey's name will be received at Security State Bank, P.O. Box 531, Basin, WY 82410-0530 and the proceeds will go to The Cloud Peak Community Bible Church in Manderson.

Atwood Family Funeral Directors assisted the family with the arrangements.
