POWELL (AP) — A state legislator from Cody has been fired from his job as Park County’s deputy prosecutor after sending a series of profane and belittling texts to a woman being prosecuted by his office.
Republican Rep. Sam Krone says he was notified of his firing by Park County Attorney Bryan Skoric on Feb. 24 during the legislative budget session, which ended last week in Cheyenne.
Krone acknowledged to the Powell Tribune that he’d sent inappropriate messages and said he was sorry for his mistakes.
Krone stressed that he’d had no involvement in prosecuting the woman, whose case has been turned over to an outside special prosecutor.
Krone says he plans to enter private practice and hasn’t decided whether to seek re-election this year. He is in his third term.
