Twila was born on February 8, 1925, in Holyoke CO, the eldest daughter of Clarence and Hazel Carpenter. When she was a young child Twila lost most of her hearing. She became extremely proficient at reading lips. Twila's ability to read lips, in addition to hearing aids she acquired as an adult, helped her throughout her life. After graduating from high school, class of 1943, in Manville, WY, Twila attended beauty college in Casper. She was awarded her license as a beauty operator and thus began her 50-year career as a beautician.

Twila met Charles (Chuck) Bancroft and they married June 8th of 1946. Chuck was working in the oilfields and they moved frequently throughout Colorado and Wyoming. They were blessed with three sons, Robert born in 1947, David in 1953, and Thomas in 1954. Twila enjoyed spending her days taking care of her sons. The oilfield business brought the Bancroft's to Big Piney, WY and they lived there for nearly thirty years. Although Twila worked in other beauty salons over the years, she wanted to have her own business. Twila opened her beauty salon, The Log Hut, in Big Piney. She enjoyed owning and operating The Log Hut for more than twenty years. After Chuck's retirement in 1986, Twila closed her salon and she and Chuck moved to Worland. Chuck died in 1988 and Twila continued to make Worland her home for the next 23 years. She was known for her lovely yard and her immaculate housekeeping.

Twila sold her home in 2011 and moved to an apartment in Riverton, WY to be near her son, Bob. After three years Twila's health declined. She became a resident of Homestead Assisted Living in Riverton for a short period of time and then moved to Worland Healthcare in late March of 2015.

Twila is survived by her sons: Bob (Ginger) of Riverton, WY, Dave (Ann) of Brownwood, TX, Tom (Crystal) of Billings, MT, Grandchildren: Ray Bancroft and Amanda Bancroft both of Laramie, WY, Sisters: Jean Cheney of Hermiston, OR and Billie Gillett of Powell, WY, Nieces: Carol McLaren (Bob) of Worland, WY, Judy Bullinger (Bart) of Powell, WY, Debbie Wambeke of Powell, WY, and many other nieces and nephews. Twila is also survived by her close friend of many years, Mildred Haynie of Cody, WY.

Twila was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Chuck, and her sister, Marsha. Twila will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Donations may be made in memory of Twila to the Beauty Shop, Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, 1901 Howell Ave. Worland WY. 82401.
